We noticed that some of you received a “BVN required” error message yesterday while trying to create new Asset Matrix MFB accounts.
This occurred due to a recent update implemented by the bank to ensure that only customers with valid BVNs can have virtual account numbers created for them.
To address issues of failed inflows (when funds sent to a customer’s virtual account are reversed or not delivered), customers are now required to complete additional KYC verification.
Please note that some older accounts may still experience similar issues, but all newly created accounts should now function smoothly and accept payments without interruption.
Important:
Kindly navigate to your Customer Management → Manage Settings, and turn off “Prefix” if it is enabled.
This step is crucial to ensure that the customer name matches the BVN record, as any mismatch may cause account creation to be declined due to these new compliance checks.
